Pitch : the heiress of a department store group and her husband, on the verge of divorce, unite to save her and her family while rekindling the flames of their love.

Pourquoi ce drama ?

D’abord, parce que tout le monde en parle et qu’il s’est récemment hissé tout en haut de la liste des dramas les plus regardés, impossible de passer à côté. Ensuite parce que j’ADORE Kim Ji-Won que je trouve super talentueuse et drôle et Kim Soo-Hyun qui est touchant et attachant. Enfin, le pitch m’a bien plu, j’adore les romances qui renaissent de leurs cendres et les histoires de conglomérats. 

Why this drama ?

Firstly, because everyone’s talking about it and it recently rose to the top of the most-watched dramas list, it’s impossible to miss. Secondly, because I LOVE Kim Ji-Won, who I find super-talented and funny, and Kim Soo-Hyun, who is touching and endearing. Finally, the pitch appealed to me; I love romances that rise from the ashes and conglomerate stories. 

Episode 1

Ce drama raconte l’histoire de Baek Hyun Woo qui tombe amoureux de Hong Hae In, une stagiaire incompétente qui n’est autre que l’héritière de la chaîne de magasins dans laquelle il travaille. Lorsqu’il le découvre, il quitte tout et elle le retrouve et l’épouse. Ce qui a l’air d’un conte de fée vire au cauchemar car Hae In le traite comme un moins que rien, l’ignore complètement et le force à vivre dans sa maison de famille avec son frère, ses parents, ses grands parents, qui sont tous aussi fous les uns que les autres. Hyun Woo aimerait divorcer mais il a peur que son beau père le tue, il finit par apprendre que Hae In a rédigé un testament dans lequel rien ne lui serait légué si elle venait à disparaître, la coupe est pleine il décide de divorcer pour de bon. Au moment ou il s’apprête à l’informer, Hae In lui annonce qu’elle est malade et qu’elle n’a que 3 mois à vivre. Il ravale sa nouvelle, la prend dans ses bras et lui dit qu’il l’aime : il a trouvé une échappatoire pour se sortir de cette vie sans divorcer. 

Episode 1

This drama tells the story of Baek Hyun Woo who falls in love with Hong Hae In, an incompetent trainee who is none other than the heiress of the chain store where he works. When he finds out, he quits and she finds him and marries him. What seems like a fairy tale turns into a nightmare, as Hae In treats him like dirt, ignores him completely and forces him to live in her family home with her brother, her parents and her grandparents, who are all as crazy as possible. Hyun Woo would like a divorce, but he’s afraid his father-in-law will kill him. He finally learns that Hae In has drawn up a will in which nothing will be bequeathed to him if she dies, and he decides to divorce her for good. Just as he’s about to inform her, Hae In tells him she’s ill and has only 3 months to live. He swallows his news, takes her in his arms and tells her he loves her: he’s found a way out of this life without divorcing her. 

Episode 2

Hyun Woo est fou de joie à l’annonce de la maladie de Hae In mais il joue le mari inquiet et malheureux. On apprend que Hae In a une tumeur inopérable qui lui occasionne des pertes de memoire et elle decide de ne pas en parler à sa famille qui verrait cette maladie comme une opportunité de l’évincer du groupe (et elle n’a surement pas tort). Hyun Woo decide de devenir un mari aimant pour qu’elle lui lègue tout et commence à se rapprocher d’elle de plus en plus. On apprend que les parents de Hae In ont perdu un enfant et que sa mère lui en veut depuis. On apprend aussi que le grand père de Hae In a une petite amie qui semble beaucoup moins innocente qu’il n’y paraît. Hae In tente d’installer une prestigieuse marque dans son centre commercial, Hercyna, et découvre qu’une ancienne connaissance (qu’elle a rejeté et ghosté), Eun Sung, est le bras droit du directeur de la marque. Hyun Woo le rencontre aussi et semble ressentir une pointe de jalousie. Lors d’une partie de chasse avec la famille de Hae In et le fameux Eun Sung, Hae In fait un malaise et se fait attaquer (pas par accident) par un sanglier. Hyun Woo la sauve au dernier moment après avoir marqué son territoire auprès de Eun Sung. 

Episode 2

Hyun Woo is overjoyed when Hae In’s illness is announced, but he plays the worried, unhappy husband. We learn that Hae In has an inoperable tumor that causes memory loss, and she decides not to tell her family, who would see the illness as an opportunity to oust her from the group (and she’s probably not wrong). Hyun Woo decides to become a loving husband so that she can leave everything to him, and starts to get closer and closer to her. We learn that Hae In’s parents have lost a child and that her mother has resented her ever since. We also learn that Hae In’s grandfather has a girlfriend who seems far less innocent than she appears. Hae In is trying to set up a prestigious brand in her shopping mall, Hercyna, and discovers that an old acquaintance (whom she rejected and ghosted), Eun Sung, is the brand manager’s right-hand man. Hyun Woo also meets him and seems to feel a pang of jealousy. During a hunting trip with Hae In’s family and the notorious Eun Sung, Hae In gets sick and is attacked (not by accident) by a wild boar. Hyun Woo saves her at the last minute after marking his territory with Eun Sung. 

Episode 3

Hyun Woo découvre qu’une cloture a été découpée afin de laisser passer le sanglier et qu’il a même été appâté avec du maïs pour être surs qu’il attaque bien Hae In. Hyun Woo et Hae In se voient obligés de partager leur chambre et le même lit et le moment est très romantique, gênant mais romantique (les acteurs jouent vraiment bien, on sent qu’ils s’aiment mais qu’ils sont mal à l’aise et qu’aucun d’eux n’ose faire le premier pas). Eun Sung nous gratifie de quelques actions de psychopathe violent et sans limite (ça promet pour la suite) et un frère renié du père de Hae In est accusé d’avoir coupé la clôture. Hae In commence à éprouver de l’attraction pour Hyun Woo et pense que c’est lié à sa maladie. Grace, la marieuse la plus célèbre de Corée décide de séparer notre couple pour punir Hae In de ne pas être venue la consulter avant de se marier, et elle espère que Eun Sung l’aidera à précipiter la fin de leur histoire. Justement, Eun Sung piège Hae In et organise un diner en tête à tête ou il la fait boire avant de la ramener chez elle complètement saoule. Hyun Woo la récupère et chasse Eun Sung avant de se faire embrasser par Hae In qui a décidé de faire avant de mourir tout ce qu’elle s’est toujours refusé de faire.

Episode 3

Hyun Woo and Hae In are forced to share their room and the same bed, and the moment is very romantic, awkward but romantic (the actors play really well, you can feel that they love each other but are uncomfortable and that neither of them dares to make the first move). Eun Sung gives us some violent, no-holds-barred psychopathic action (which is promising for the future episodes), and a disowned brother of Hae In’s father is accused of cutting the fence. Hae In begins to feel an attraction for Hyun Woo and thinks it’s related to her illness. Grace, Korea’s most famous matchmaker, decides to separate the couple to punish Hae In for not consulting her before getting married, and she hopes that Eun Sung will help her hasten the end of their marriage. Eun Sung tricks Hae In into a dinner party where he gets her drunk before taking her home. Hyun Woo retrieves her and chases Eun Sung away before being kissed by Hae In, who has decided to do everything she’s always refused to do before dying.

Episode 4

On découvre que Hyun Woo et Hae In ont attendu un enfant qu’ils ont perdu et que c’est probablement la raison pour laquelle ils ont pris leurs distances tous les deux. Après de nombreuses recherches, Hae In trouve un institut qui pense pouvoir la guérir et Hyun Woo plonge dans une angoisse totale. On comprend que la belle mere pas si innocente et Grace ont un lien avec Eun Sung et qu’ils ont des projets plutôt funestes pour la famille de Hae In : ils veulent racheter leur entreprise en secret et les ruiner. En voulant aider son beau père à se faire réélire maire de son village, Hae In finit par avoir une crise et se perdre. Hyun Woo la retrouve et elle lui avoue qu’elle a peur (accessoirement on découvre aussi qu’ils se sont croisés par le passé lorsqu’ils étaient ados). 

Episode 4

We discover that Hyun Woo and Hae In were expecting a child and lost it, which is probably why they both distanced themselves from each other. After much searching, Hae In finds an institute that thinks it can cure her, and Hyun Woo plunges into total anguish. It becomes clear that the not-so-innocent mother-in-law and Grace have a connection with Eun Sung, and that they have rather nefarious plans for Hae In’s family: they want to secretly take over their business and ruin them. Trying to help her father-in-law get re-elected mayor of his village, Hae In ends up having a seizure and getting lost. Hyun Woo finds her and she confesses that she’s afraid (incidentally, we also discover that they crossed paths in the past when they were teenagers). 

Episode 5

Dans la famille de Hyun Woo, Hae In et Hyun Woo se rapprochent, Hyun Woo panique et s’enfuie (en laissant Hae In en plan) et Hae In finit par découvrir qu’il avait prévu de demander le divorce. De retour chez eux, Hyun Woo découvre que Eun Sung s’est installé chez eux et a bien l’intention de le faire partir et de prendre sa place. Le frère de Hae In tente de monter une affaire avec Eun Sung (qui cherche probablement à le plumer) et Hyun Woo conseille à la famille d’investir avec prudence dans cette affaire (ce qui ne plait pas beaucoup au beau frère qui est exécrable avec Hyun Woo). Eun Sung comprend que Hae In est malade en la voyant en pleine crise. Hae In part seule en Allemagne pour se faire soigner et Hyun Woo réalise à quel point il l’aime avant de la rejoindre en Allemagne. Il la rejoint et la retrouve dans un palais qu’ils avaient visité lors de leur lune de miel. Ils finissent par s’avouer qu’ils se manquent et s’embrassent.

Episode 5

In Hyun Woo’s family, Hae In and Hyun Woo grow closer, Hyun Woo panics and flees (leaving Hae In in the lurch) and Hae In eventually discovers that he had planned to file for divorce. Back home, Hyun Woo discovers that Eun Sung has moved in with them and is intending on driving him out and take his place. Hae In’s brother tries to set up a business with Eun Sung (who is probably out to fleece him), and Hyun Woo advises the family to invest carefully in the business (which doesn’t sit well with the brother-in-law, who is at enmity with Hyun Woo). Eun Sung understands that Hae In is ill when she sees her in the middle of a crisis. Hae In goes off alone to Germany for treatment, and Hyun Woo realizes how much he loves her before deciding to go find her in Germany. They meet again in a palace they had visited on their honeymoon and finally admit to missing each other and kiss.

Episode 6

Hyun Woo fait analyser la dashcam d’une camionnette située sur le lieu ou la clôture avait été découpée laissant s’échapper le sanglier qui a attaqué Hae In, Eun Sung vole la vidéo et on découvre que c’est la femme de son frère qui a mis en scène l’attaque (elle est donc surement de mèche avec toute la team des méchants). On la voit ensuite avec Eun Sung fouiller le bureau de Hyun Woo à la recherche de preuves pour mettre fin à son mariage avec Hae In. Hae In et Hyun Woo se parlent à coeur ouvert : elle lui annonce qu’elle va le mettre sur son testament et il lui demande d’attendre d’être guérie pour le faire (dans leur langue ça veut probablement dire je t’aime). Grace s’infiltre dans le bureau de Hyun Woo, ouvre son coffre fort et découvre la demande de divorce qu’il avait remplie. Hae In raconte à Hyun Woo ce qu’il s’est passé quand elle avait 9 ans : lors d’un tour en bateau, elle est tombée à l’eau et son grand frère (Su Wan) à plongée pour la sauver et a perdu la vie (raison pour laquelle sa mère la déteste). En Corée, Grace et compagnie s’organisent pour piéger Hyun Woo et faire croire à la famille qu’il a détourné des fonds et qu’il les espionne (ce qu’ils croient bien volontiers). Ils tombent également sur les papiers du divorce et préviennent Hae In qui tombe de très haut.

Episode 6

Hyun Woo has the dashcam of a van located where the fence had been cut analyzed. Eun Sung steals the video and we discover that it was her brother’s wife who staged the wild boar attack (so she’s probably in cahoots with the whole team of bad guys). We then see her and Eun Sung searching Hyun Woo’s office for evidence to end his marriage to Hae In. Hae In and Hyun Woo have a heart-to-heart: she tells him she’s going to put him in her will, and he asks her to wait until she’s well enough to do so (in their language, that probably means I love you). Grace sneaks into Hyun Woo’s office, opens his safe and discovers the divorce application he’d filled out. Hae In tells Hyun Woo what happened when she was 9: on a boat trip, she fell into the water and her older brother (Su Wan) dived in to save her and lost his life (which is why her mother hates her). In Korea, Grace and co set out to trap Hyun Woo and make the family believe that he has embezzled funds and is spying on them (which they readily believe). They also stumble upon the divorce papers and warn Hae In, who falls hard.

Episode 7

Hae In semble perdre le gout à la vie et Hyun Woo la provoque pour la faire réagir et lui donner envie de se battre (contre lui). La famille de Hae In finit pas valider le deal entre Eun Sung et leur fils (et tombe donc en plein de le piège tendu par leurs ennemis). On en apprend d’ailleurs un peu plus sur eux : Eun Sung et le fils de la petite amie du grand père, elle l’a eu en prison et ne pouvait pas l’élever dans le luxe, elle l’a donc abandonné en attendant de pouvoir lui offrir lieux. Lui a l’air d’avoir pas mal de problèmes et on comprend qu’il a probablement tué ses parents adoptifs. Tous les deux, avec Grace et la belle soeur de Hae In, prévoient de ruiner la famille, de les envoyer en prison et de récupérer leur entreprise, leurs richesses blablabla. Alors qu’elle essaie de se venger de Hyun Woo par tous les moyens, Hae In commence à perdre la mémoire, oublie tout ce qu’il s’est passé (divorce etc.) et agit avec Hyun Woo comme si tout allait bien. Eun Sung comprend que quelque chose ne va pas dans la santé de Hae In.

Episode 7

Hae In seems to be losing her taste for life, and Hyun Woo provokes her to react and fight (against him). In the end, Hae In’s family validates the deal between Eun Sung and their son (and thus falls right into the trap set by their enemies). We learn a little more about them: Eun Sung is the son of the grandfather’s girlfriend. She had him in prison and couldn’t raise him in luxury, so she abandoned him until she could offer him a better life. He seems to have quite a few problems, and we understand that he probably killed his adoptive parents. The two of them, along with Grace and Hae In’s sister-in-law, plan to ruin the family, send them to prison and take over their business, their wealth and so on. As she tries to get revenge on Hyun Woo by any means necessary, Hae In begins to lose her memory, forgets everything that happened (divorce etc.) and acts with Hyun Woo as if everything is fine. Eun Sung realizes that something is wrong with Hae In’s health.

Episode 8

Hyun Woo rafraîchit la mémoire de Hae In et elle demande à ce que leur divorce soit finalisé. Lorsque Eun Sung tente une nouvelle fois de se rapprocher d’elle, Hae In lui avoue qu’elle a épousé Hyun Woo par amour et qu’elle a divorcé parce qu’elle ne supportait pas de voir qu’elle le rendait malheureux. Hyun Woo remarque que Eun Sung suit Hae In et il décide de le suivre lui aussi, d’enquêter sur lui et finit oar découvrir qu’il est le fils de la petite amie du grand père. Le deal qu’Eun Sung a passé avec le frère de Hae In commence à prendre l’eau et pour le « sauver », Eun Sung décide de devenir le seul investisseur (quel héros…) et la famille accepte (malgré les tentatives de Hyun Woo pour les en empêcher). Pour se protéger d’un éventuel séjour en prison, le grand père donne pouvoir à sa petite amie (la mère d’Eun Sung) pour prendre des décisions et voter à sa place. Lors de l’anniversaire du grand père, la team méchants passe à l’action : la femme du frère le quitte en secret et pars aux États Unis avec leur fils (qui n’est pas son fils à lui je pense) et la petite amie empoisonne le grand père et prend le contrôle de ses parts. Elle provoque ensuite une assemblée générale et vire la famille de l’entreprise puisqu’elle a la majorité avec son fils (qui a soigneusement récupéré un paquet de parts en secret et grâce au frère d’Hae In). Toute la famille fuit et se réfugie à la campagne, chez les parents de Hyun Woo.

Episode 8

Hyun Woo refreshes Hae In’s memory and she demands that their divorce be finalized. When Eun Sung again tries to get close to her, Hae In confesses that she married Hyun Woo for love and divorced him because she couldn’t bear to see that she was making him unhappy. Hyun Woo notices that Eun Sung is following Hae In and decides to follow him too and investigate him, he ends up discovering that he is the grandfather’s girlfriend’s son. Eun Sung’s deal with Hae In’s brother begins to fall through, and to « save » him, Eun Sung decides to become the sole investor (what a hero…) and the family agrees (despite Hyun Woo’s attempts to stop them). To protect himself from possible imprisonment, the grandfather empowers his girlfriend (Eun Sung’s mother) to make decisions and vote in his stead. On the grandfather’s birthday, the mean team takes action: the brother’s wife leaves him in secret and goes to the States with their son (who I don’t think is his son), and the girlfriend poisons the grandfather and takes control of his shares. She then instigates a shareholders’ meeting and kicks the family out of the company, since she has the majority with her son (who has carefully snatched up a bunch of shares in secret and thanks to Hae In’s brother). The whole family flees to Hyun Woo’s parents’ home in the countryside.

Episode 9

La famille de Hae In s’installe à contre coeur et avec beaucoup de mal chez les parents de Hyun Woo pendant que lui se prépare à contre attaquer. Eun Sung et sa mère, enfin installés dans la maison de la famille et en possession de tous leurs biens, réalisent qu’ils n’ont pas les memes objectifs : maman veut juste être riche et kiffer tandis que fiston veut juste récupérer Hae In et il est prêt à abandonner sa mère pour ça. Tous les deux rejettent Grace et ses rêves de devenir CEO de l’entreprise, maman parce qu’elle veut le poste et fiston parce qu’il veut garder le poste pour Hae In (qu’il compte épouser tout ça tout ça…). Eun Sung fait ensuite une première action contre sa mère en kidnappant le grand père qui est dans le coma (parfait, ils vont s’entretuer). Hyun Woo, de son côté, regroupe toutes les preuves permettant de faire tomber nos deux compères et rachètent en secret des parts de la société. A la fin de l’épisode, Eun Sung retrouve Hae In et Hyun Woo se fait attaquer par des complices d’Eun Sung.

Episode 9

Hae In’s family reluctantly and painfully move in with Hyun Woo’s parents, while he prepares to counterattack. Eun Sung and his mother, finally settled into the family home and in possession of all their possessions, realize they don’t have the same goals: Mom just wants to be rich and enjoy herself, while Son just wants Hae In back, and is ready to abandon his mother for that. They both reject Grace and her dreams of becoming CEO of the company, Mom because she wants the job and Son because he wants to keep the job for Hae In (whom he plans to marry and all…). Eun Sung then takes the first step against his mother by kidnapping the grandfather, who is in a coma (perfect, they’ll annihilate each other). Hyun Woo, for his part, gathers all the evidence needed to bring down our two accomplices and secretly buys shares of the company. At the end of the episode, Eun Sung reunites with Hae In and Hyun Woo is attacked by Eun Sung’s accomplices.

Episode 10

Hyun Woo reussit à faire arrêter le complice d’Eun Sung et Eun Sung demande à Hae In de revenir au travail et de l’épouser en échange du sauvetage de sa famille. Pour convaincre Hae In, Eun Sung fait rétrograder Hyun Woo au travail et menace de l’accuser d’un crime qui lui fera avoir un casier judiciaire (j’ai vraiment hâte qu’il tombe de son piédestal celui-là). La famille d’Hae In commence à prendre ses marques dans cette nouvelle vie et avec l’aide de Grace, la tante d’Hae In retrouve la trace de son père. Pour sauver Hyun Woo, Hae In accepte de rejoindre Eun Sung et ils organisent une conférence au cours de laquelle ils prévoient d’annoncer qu’elle reprend son poste et qu’ils se marient. Manque de bol pour Eun Sung, Hae In ne respecte pas le script et annonce que Eun Sung a menacé de piéger Hyun Woo et qu’elle est atteinte d’une maladie incurable (yessss girl !!). Sur la fin de l’épisode, on a droit à un petit flashback ou un Hyun Woo complètement saoul avoue qu’il aime Hae In qui l’écoute en secret (vraiment très mignon).

Episode 10

Hyun Woo manages to have Eun Sung’s accomplice arrested, and Eun Sung asks Hae In to come back to work and marry him in exchange for saving her family. To convince Hae In, Eun Sung demotes Hyun Woo at work and threatens to accuse him of a crime that will earn him a criminal record (I can’t wait for him to fall off his pedestal). Hae In’s family begins to settle into their new life and, with the help of Grace, Hae In’s aunt tracks down her father. To save Hyun Woo, Hae In agrees to join Eun Sung, and they hold a conference at which they plan to announce that she’s taking over her job and that they’re getting married. Unluckily for Eun Sung, Hae In disregards the script and announces that Eun Sung has threatened to frame Hyun Woo and that she has an incurable disease (yessss girl!!). At the end of the episode, we’re treated to a little flashback in which a drunk Hyun Woo confesses that he loves Hae In, who secretly listens to him (really cute).

Episode 11

Après son discours, Hae In s’effondre dans les bras de Hyun Woo et est transportée à l’hôpital ou elle subit des soins intensifs. La tante (on va commencer à l’appeler par son prenom : Beom Ja) s’introduit à l’hôpital pour retrouver son père, est court circuitée par la petite amie et toutes les deux le retrouvent réveillé mais amnésique (je sais pas pourquoi je suis sure qu’il fait semblant) dans sa chambre. Dès son réveil, Hae In avoue ses sentiments à Hyun Woo puis elle fait la paix avec sa famille. Toute la famille (et la belle mère de son côté) part ensuite à la recherche de la caisse noire que le grand père a constitué. Eun Sung déraille parce que Hae In le rejette et préfère Hyun Woo puis Hae In fait un malaise, part avec Eun Sung en pensant qu’il est Hyun Woo jusqu’à ce que le vrai Hyun Woo les retrouve et sauve Hae In.

Episode 11

After her speech, Hae In collapses in Hyun Woo’s arms and is taken to hospital where she undergoes intensive care. The aunt (let’s start calling her by her name: Beom Ja) sneaks into the hospital to find her father, is short-circuited by the girlfriend and the two of them find him awake but with amnesia (I don’t know why, I’m sure he’s faking it) in his room. As soon as she wakes up, Hae In confesses her feelings to Hyun Woo and makes peace with her family. The whole family (and the stepmother on her side) then sets out to find the slush fund that the grandfather has built up. Eun Sung goes loses it because Hae In rejects him and prefers Hyun Woo, then Hae In has a meltdown, leaves with Eun Sung thinking he’s Hyun Woo until the real Hyun Woo finds them and saves Hae In.

Episode 12

Pour que Hyun Woo ne s’inquiète pas du fait qu’elle l’ait confondu avec Eun Sung, Hae In fait semblant d’avoir à discuter avec lui et pars avec Eun Sung. Hyun Woo se fait kidnapper et presque droguer par le complice d’Eun Sung qui a bien l’intention de le tuer. Eun Sung apprend à Hae In qu’il lui a sauvé la vie plusieurs fois, notamment quand elle a failli se noyer (il espère qu’elle va se jeter dans ses bras et l’épouser…pathétique). Au meme moment, on apprend que Hyun Woo a également sauvé un enfant de la noyade (Hae In évidemment). Hyun Woo réussit à s’en tirer et vient sauver Hae In après qu’elle ait vu son grand père (on ne voit pas la scène, je suis encore plus certaine qu’il fait semblant d’être amnésique). Hyun Woo demande à Hae In d’annuler leur mariage et elle refuse car elle n’est plus sure de rien et va probablement mourir (puis plus tard elle enfile la bague que Hyun Woo lui offre en même temps et il comprend qu’elle est d’accord). On apprend que le grand père a suggéré a Hae In que l’argent qu’il a caché est dans la panic room de leur maison et on voit qu’il arrête de prendre ses médicaments en secret (et la petite amie le découvre aussi…). Eun Sung et sa mère apprennent aussi que l’argent est caché dans la maison et commencent à le chercher et la femme du frère de Hae In revient vivre avec lui (et il l’accepte à bras ouverts). Pour arrêter l’emprise de sa petite amie, le grand père se jette dans les escaliers après avoir enregistré un message secret pour Hae In et meurt sur le coup. La famille reprend donc ses droits, vire la petite amie et trouve la panic room (qui est surement déjà vide).

Episode 12

So that Hyun Woo doesn’t worry that she has mistaken him for Eun Sung, Hae In pretends to have something to discuss with him and leaves with Eun Sung. Hyun Woo is kidnapped and almost drugged by Eun Sung’s accomplice who wants to kill him. Eun Sung tells Hae In that he saved her life several times, including when she almost drowned (he hopes she’ll run into his arms and marry him…pathetic). At the same time, we learn that Hyun Woo also saved a child from drowning (Hae In, of course). Hyun Woo manages to get away and comes to save Hae In after she sees her grandfather (we don’t see the scene, so I’m even more sure that he’s pretending to have amnesia). Hyun Woo asks Hae In to call off the divorce and she refuses because she’s not sure of anything anymore and will probably die (later she puts on the ring Hyun Woo offers her and he understands that she agrees). We learn that the grandfather has suggested to Hae In that the money he has hidden is in the panic room of their house, and we see that he secretly stops taking his medication (and the girlfriend finds out too…). Eun Sung and her mother also learn that the money is hidden in the house and start looking for it, and Hae In’s brother’s wife returns to live with him (and he welcomes her with open arms). To break his girlfriend’s hold on him, the grandfather throws himself down the stairs after recording a secret message for Hae In and dies. The family takes over, kicks out the girlfriend and finds the panic room (which is probably already empty).

Episode 13

L’episode nous confirme dès le début qu’Eun Sung et sa mère ont trouvé et volé l’argent du grand père. Les médecins trouvent une façon d’opérer et sauver Hae In mais elle risque de perdre sa mémoire, Hyun Woo et sa famille décident donc de l’envoyer en Allemagne pour se faire opérer sans lui dire qu’elle risque fort de tout oublier. Hae In et Hyun Woo se remettent ensemble et decident de passer le plus de temps possible ensemble. Eun Sung et sa mère tombent dans un piège tendu par Hyun Woo et commencent à utiliser l’argent volé au grand père, ce qui permettra à la famille de les faire emprisonner pour détournement de fond etc. (Et au passage, l’ancien complice d’Eun Sung est retrouvé assassiné…encore un élément contre eux). Eun Sung apprend que Hae In va se faire opérer et veut tout savoir, ou, par qui, quelle opération etc. Et il finit par apprendre qu’elle risque de perdre la mémoire et décide de les suivre en secret en Allemagne (ce type est une vraie plaie). Hyun Woo avoue a Hae In le risque qu’elle prend en se faisant opérer et elle décide de mourir plutôt que d’oublier (pour le moment).

Episode 13

The episode confirms right from the start that Eun Sung and her mother have found and stolen the grandfather’s money. The doctors find a way to operate and save Hae In, but she risks losing her memory, so Hyun Woo and her family decide to send her to Germany for surgery without telling her that she’s likely to forget everything. Hae In and Hyun Woo get back together and decide to spend as much time as possible together. Eun Sung and her mother fall into a trap set by Hyun Woo and start to use the money stolen from the grandfather, which will enable the family to have them imprisoned for embezzlement etc. (Incidentally, Eun Sung’s former accomplice is found murdered…yet another element against them). Eun Sung learns that Hae In is going to have an operation and wants to know all about it, where, by whom, what operation etc.. And he finally learns that she’s in danger of losing her memory and decides to follow them secretly to Germany (this guy is a real pain in the ass). Hyun Woo confesses to Hae In the risk she’s taking by having the operation, and she decides to die rather than forget (for the time being).

Episode 14

Hae In refuse l’opération et tout le monde tente de la faire changer d’avis. Eun Sung pars en Allemagne contre la volonté de sa mère en se disant que si elle oublie tout il a peut être une chance qu’elle tombe amoureuse de lui (l’espoir fait vivre…). La mère d’Eun Sung décide donc de prendre les choses en main et de faire en sorte qu’Eun Sung lâche l’affaire en faisant tuer Hae In (spoiler alert, elle échoue). Hae In finit par céder. Pendant l’opération d’Hae In, Hyun Woo se fait arrêter pour le meurtre du complice d’Eun Sung qui débarque à l’hôpital pour être la au réveil d’Hae In et, surement, se présenter comme son mari tout ça tout ça (non mais je le déteste !). A son réveil, Hae In a biensur tout oublié et le batard Eun Sung se fait passer pour son petit ami (heureusement pour mes nerfs, elle se rappelle vaguement de Hyun Woo et de son importance pour elle).

Episode 14

Hae In refuses the operation and everyone tries to change her mind. Eun Sung goes to Germany against his mother’s wishes, thinking that if she forgets everything he might have a chance of her falling in love with him (hope springs eternal…). So Eun Sung’s mother decides to take matters into her own hands and get Eun Sung to drop the case by having Hae In killed (spoiler alert, she fails). Hae In finally gives in. During Hae In’s operation, Hyun Woo is arrested for the murder of Eun Sung’s accomplice, Eun Sung who arrives at the hospital to be there when Hae In wakes up and, no doubt, introduce himself as her husband and all that (I hate him!). When Hae In wakes up, of course, she’s forgotten everything and the bastard Eun Sung pretends to be her boyfriend (fortunately for my nerves, she vaguely remembers Hyun Woo and his meaning to her).

Episode 15

Eun Sung décrit Hyun Woo à Hae In comme étant un ex mari jaloux, avide d’argent et dangereux (en fait il se décrit lui…). Il invente même des mensonges pour rendre son histoire crédible (et je pense que c’est ça qui le perdra). Après 1 mois de lavage de cerveau, Hae In rentre en Corée et ignore sa famille (j’ai l’impression qu’elle fait semblant) : Eun Sung a gagné, il leur a tout pris (il va donc sûrement commencer à se sentir au dessus et faire des erreurs bêtes). Pour mieux connaître son ennemi, Hae In rend visite à Hyun Woo en prison, elle ne se rappelle pas de lui et Eun Sung devient fou en l’apprenant (et hop, elle commence à se méfier). Depuis sa prison, Hyun Woo organise sa défense et l’arrêt du vrai meurtrier, sous les yeux (vraiment énervés) d’Eun Sung. Hae In continue d’enquêter sur lui « discrètement » et se retrouve mêlée à lui à cause d’événements qu’elle avait organisé avant son opération pour le reconquérir, et elle commence à douter. Elle tombe sur un journal écrit avant son opération, comprend qu’il est l’amour de sa vie et court le retrouver. Manque de bol, Eun Sung la suit et renverse Hyun Woo.

Episode 15

Eun Sung describes Hyun Woo to Hae In as a jealous, money-hungry and dangerous ex-husband (he actually describes himself…). He even makes up lies to make his story believable (and I think that’s what’s going to lose him). After 1 month of brainwashing, Hae In returns to Korea and ignores her family (I get the impression she’s faking it): Eun Sung has won, he’s taken everything from them (so he’s bound to start feeling superior and make silly mistakes). To get to know her enemy better, Hae In visits Hyun Woo in prison; she doesn’t remember him, and Eun Sung goes crazy when he finds out (so she starts to get suspicious). From prison, Hyun Woo organizes his defense and the arrest of the real murderer, while Eun Sung watches on (really pissed off). Hae In continues to investigate Hyun Woo « discreetly » and gets mixed up with him because of events she had organized before her operation to win him back, and she starts to have doubts. She comes across a diary written before her operation, realizes he’s the love of her life and runs to find him. Unfortunately, Eun Sung follows her and knocks Hyun Woo down.

Episode 16

Non seulement Eun Sung renverse Hyun Woo (et fait accuser quelqu’un d’autre, classique) mais il kidnappe aussi Hae In (ce type est une verrue) et prévoit de la forcer à l’épouser. Il dévalise l’argent de sa mère et envisage de fuir aux États Unis avec Hae In. Une fois opéré, Hyun Woo s’enfuit de l’hôpital pour sauver Hae In. On apprend que la mère d’Eun Sung a en fait commanditer le meurtre du frère d’Hae In (mais quelle famille !) et qu’Eun Sung le savait. Hyun Woo arrive à sauver Hae In mais Eun Sung les poursuit avec un fusil (le type a complètement pété les plombs), il tente de tuer Hae In mais Hyun Woo s’interpose et prend la balle et Eun Sung de fait abattre par la police (enfin on ne le verra plus). La mère d’Eun Sung apprend sa mort, récupère ses parts et tente d’en acheter plus pour devenir présidente du groupe (je le demande pourquoi elle veut le groupe Queens absolument). Hyun Woo finit par se réveiller et il attaque la mère d’Eun Sung pour annuler toutes les parts qu’elle a acheté tout en profitant pour la faire arrêter pour la tentative de meurtre du grand père. La famille retrouve sa maison, ses richesse mais finit par choisir le bonheur, chacun à leur façon. Hae In et Hyun Woo se promettent de toujours être là l’un pour l’autre, finissent par avoir une petite fille et meurent vieux et heureux.

Episode 16

Not only does Eun Sung overthrow Hyun Woo (and frame someone else, classic) but he also kidnaps Hae In (the guy’s a wart) and plans to force her to marry him. He robs his mother of her money and plans to flee to the USA with Hae In. After the operation, Hyun Woo flees the hospital to save Hae In. We learn that Eun Sung’s mother actually ordered the murder of Hae In’s brother (what a family!) and that Eun Sung knew about it. Hyun Woo manages to save Hae In but Eun Sung chases them with a gun (the guy completely lost it), he tries to kill Hae In but Hyun Woo interferes and takes the bullet and Eun Sung is shot dead by the police (well, we won’t see him again). Eun Sung’s mother learns of his death, gets her shares back and tries to buy more to become president of the group (I wonder why she wants the Queens group so badly). Hyun Woo finally wakes up and sues Eun Sung’s mother, cancelling all the shares she’s bought and arresting her for the attempted murder of the grandfather. The family regain their home and their wealth, but end up choosing happiness, each in their own way. Hae In and Hyun Woo promise to always be there for each other, end up with a little girl and die old and happy.

Mon avis

Bon, j’ai vraiment beaucoup aimé ce drama.

Les acteurs font un super travail d’interprétation, ils incarnent tous des personnages différents à merveille et nous font passer par plein d’émotions. Big up aux méchants qui sont vraiment détestables et au couple principal qui est vrai et à qui on peut vraiment s’identifier (hormis le côté méga riche).

L’histoire est très bien construite, il y a plein de rebondissements et d’intrigues imprévisibles. Il y a aussi beaucoup d’humour qui allège très bien certains épisodes plutôt sombres. Petit bémol, on ne sait pas pourquoi la mère d’Eun Sung a choisi cette famille en particulier pour leur faire subir son plan machiavélique (alors que le drama semble nous laisser entendre qu’elle se venge).

Rien à dire concernant les décors, les costumes etc. tout est très beau et très en adéquation avec les scènes liées.

Côté longueur, j’ai quand même trouvé ce drama un poil long. 16 épisodes d’1h30 c’est assez lourd, autant vous dire que je n’en ai pas regardé plus d’un d’affilée tellement j’avais la flemme de repartir sur 1h30 de visionnage.

En synthèse, c’est un très beau drama, pas le meilleur que j’ai jamais vu mais je le mettrais surement dans mon top 20. En tout cas, même si je vous conseille de le regarder, je trouve qu’il est un brin surcôté.

My opinion

Well, I really enjoyed this drama.

The actors do a great job of portraying the different characters and taking us through a whole range of emotions. Big up to the villains, who are truly detestable, and to the main couple, who are real and with whom we can really identify (apart from the mega-rich side).

The story is very well constructed, with plenty of twists and unpredictable plot twists. There’s also plenty of humor to lighten some of the darker episodes. On the downside, we don’t know why Eun Sung’s mother chose this particular family to carry out her Machiavellian plan (although the drama seems to imply that she’s out for revenge).

There’s nothing to say about the sets, costumes etc. everything is very beautiful and very much in keeping with the related scenes.

In terms of length, I did find this drama a little long. 16 episodes of 1h30 is pretty heavy, so I didn’t watch more than one in a row, because I was so lazy that I couldn’t picture myself watching another 1h30.

All in all, it’s a very fine drama, not the best I’ve ever seen, but I’d certainly put it in my top 20. In any case, although I’d advise you to watch it, I find it a little overrated.
