Pourquoi ce drama ?

Vraiment par hasard, j’attend que la diffusion de « my sweet mobster » se termine et j’ai vu pas mal d’extraits qui m’ont donné envie !

Why this drama ?

Really by chance, I’m waiting for the broadcast of « my sweet mobster » to finish and I’ve seen a few extracts which have made me want to watch it!

Episode 1

Jae Rim vient de perdre son père et doit vivre avec sa belle mère et ses méchantes belles soeur (ça vous rappelle quelque chose ?!). Son père lui laisse pour seul héritage une lettre ou il lui demande de devenir manager d’une sorte de country club (chungdam heaven) pour se trouver un mari riche et vivre une vie confortable. Le directeur de chungdam heaven, Cha Min, a tout du prince charmant : riche, beau etc. mais il considère que toutes les femmes sont des pierres (marbre, or etc…oui, il est un peu bizarre). Jae Rim finit par postuler à chungdam heaven pour aider sa famille (sa belle mère, qui a l’air adorable, est enceinte). Le jour de l’entretien, elle perd malencontreusement sa chaussure (là aussi ça vous rappelle quelque chose ?) qui atterrit sur Cha Min, ils se rencontrent donc comme ça et Cha Min lui annonce qu’il va la poursuivre en justice pour tentative de meurtre.

Episode 1

Jae Rim has just lost her father and has to live with her stepmother and wicked stepsisters (sound familiar?!). Her father’s only legacy is a letter asking her to become the manager of a country club (chungdam heaven) so she can find a rich husband and live a comfortable life. The director of chungdam heaven, Cha Min, has all the makings of Prince Charming: rich, handsome, etc., but he considers all women to be stones (marble, gold, etc. – yes, he’s a bit weird). Jae Rim ends up applying to chungdam heaven to help her family (her lovely mother-in-law is pregnant). On the day of the interview, she accidentally loses her shoe, which lands on Cha Min. That’s how they meet, and Cha Min tells her he’s going to sue her for attempted murder.

Episode 2

N’ayant rien à perdre, Jae Rim remet Cha Min à sa place avant de découvrir qu’il est le directeur et de planter son entretien d’embauche en priant, devant lui, pour qu’il finisse foudroyé. Cha Min ne se remet pas de cette rencontre et commence à voir Jae Rim partout (aurait-il vraiment eu un coup de foudre ?!), il finit par la rappeler et lui offrir le poste. Cha Min est très déçu en découvrant que le rêve de Jae Rim est de se trouver un riche mari, il lui propose donc de la garder seulement si elle gagne le défi de son choix. Elle propose un concours de boisson qu’elle gagne haut la main et décroche donc son CDI. Dans son excitation, elle oublie sa vessie et réalise un peu tard qu’elle a une envie très pressante. Cha Min la sauve et elle commence à bien l’aimer jusqu’à ce qu’elle découvre par hasard qu’il est fiancé.

Episode 2

With nothing to lose, Jae Rim puts Cha Min in his place before discovering that he’s the manager and crashing her job interview, praying, in front of him, that he’ll end up struck by lightning. Cha Min can’t get over this encounter and starts seeing Jae Rim everywhere (has he really been lovestruck?!), eventually calling her back and offering her the job. Cha Min is very disappointed to discover that Jae Rim’s dream is to find herself a rich husband, so he offers to keep her only if she wins the challenge of her choice. She proposes a drinking contest, which she wins with flying colors, and thus lands her permanent job. In her excitement, she forgets her bladder and realizes a little late that she has a very pressing urge. Cha Min saves her and she begins to like him, until she discovers that he’s engaged.

Episode 3

Jae Rim et Cha Min commencent chacun de leur coté à penser à l’autre. Jae Rim découvre ce qu’est vraiment Chungdam Heaven : un gigantesque centre aéré pour riches héritiers avec une salle de jeu (forcés d’étudier depuis le plus jeune âge ils ont besoin de jouer une fois adultes), un hall d’exposition et un café (j’adore le concept, ça devrait vraiment exister !). Cha Min assigne les tâches les plus ingrates à Jae Rim pour l’embêter (il se régale) et cela ne plait pas beaucoup à sa fiancée qui fait tout pour que Jae Rim trouve vite un mari et quitte Chungdam Heaven. On comprend que Cha Min et sa fiancée ne sont pas amoureux et sont ensemble pour les affaires. Jae Rim visite une shaman et écrit son voeu sur un papier, le lendemain, par hasard, l’homme de ses rêves entre à Chungdam Heaven sous les yeux de Cha Min.

Episode 3

Jae Rim and Cha Min begin to think about each other. Jae Rim discovers what Chungdam Heaven really is: a gigantic day-care center for wealthy heirs with a playroom (forced to study from an early age, they need to play as adults), an exhibition hall and a cafe (I love the concept, it really should exist!). Cha Min assigns the most thankless tasks to Jae Rim to annoy her (he enjoys it) and this doesn’t please his fiancée very much, she does everything she can to get Jae Rim to find a husband and leave Chungdam Heaven. We understand that Cha Min and his fiancée are not in love, but are together as business partners. Jae Rim visits a shaman and writes her wish on a piece of paper. The next day, by chance, the man of her dreams enters Chungdam Heaven before Cha Min’s very eyes.

Episode 4

Jae Rim est persuadée que ce nouvel arrivant (Do Hong, beaucoup trop parfait pour être honnête si vous voulez mon avis) lui a été envoyé par les cieux et Cha Min voit ça d’un très mauvais oeil. Cha Min accepte quand même ce nouveau client et espère que les plans de Jae Rim pour le séduire échouent. Il accepte même de la laisser organiser une fête de bienvenue sur le thème des mauvaises rencontres et disparaît dans une maison de famille. Jae Rim contacte un artiste recommandé par Cha Min qui lui fait faux bond au dernier moment et finit par peindre elle même les oeuvres pour la fête de bienvenue. Cha Min, isolé dans sa maison de famille, continue de penser à Jae Rim (et fait même un rêve coquin) et on découvre qu’elle ressemble à quelqu’un de son passé (qui a l’air tragique). A la fête, Jae Rim n’a d’yeux que pour Do Hong qui a visiblement plutôt envie de se trouver une riche héritière, il en trouve d’ailleurs une qui humilie Jae Rim devant lui et il choisit de se mettre du côté de l’héritière. Cha Min intervient, sauve Jae Rim du ridicule et lui avoue son amour (sous les yeux de sa fiancée).

Episode 4

Jae Rim is convinced that this newcomer (Do Hong, far too perfect to be honest if you ask me) has been sent to her by the heavens, and Cha Min takes a very dim view of this. Nevertheless, Cha Min accepts this new client and hopes that Jae Rim’s plans to seduce him fail. He even agrees to let her organize a welcome party on the theme of wrong encounters and disappears into a family home. Jae Rim contacts an artist recommended by Cha Min, who turns her down at the last minute and ends up painting the artwork for the welcome party herself. Cha Min, isolated in his family home, continues to think about Jae Rim (and even has a naughty dream) and we discover that she resembles someone from his past (who looks tragic). At the party, Jae Rim only has eyes for Do Hong, who’s obviously more interested in finding himself a rich heiress, finding one who humiliates Jae Rim in front of him and choosing to side with the heiress. Cha Min intervenes, saves Jae Rim from ridicule and confesses his love for her (in front of his fiancée).

Episode 5

Cha Min avoue à Jae Rim que sa fiancée et lui ne sont pas amoureux et qu’il est inquiet pour elle et ne veut pas la voir malheureuse. Après une nouvelle humiliation, Jae Rim est complètement déprimée et Cha Min lui propose de l’aider, elle accepte et ils s’embrassent (je pense que c’est le plus long premier baiser – réciproque – que j’ai vu dans un drama…et j’en ai vu beaucoup !). Une fois n’est pas coutume, Jae Rim et Cha Min se chamaillent et ne veulent pas s’avouer leurs sentiments alors que chacun de son côté est complètement chamboulé par le baiser (Cha Min écoute même des chants religieux pour se calmer, je suis pliée). On comprend que la mère de Cha Min rêvait aussi d’être cendrillon et s’est barrée avec la fortune de son père après avoir divorcé de lui, Cha Min veut donc éviter de se retrouver dans la même situation. Comme Cha Min sait qu’il est amoureux de Jae Rim, il préfère l’aider à trouver l’homme de sa vie plutôt que d’être dévasté le jour ou elle le quittera. Do Hong revient à la charge et demande à Jae Rim d’apprendre à se connaître puis demande à Cha Min de ne pas l’embrasser à nouveau et le menace (le mec ne manque pas de culot). Jae Rim décide de tester Cha Min et lui fait croire qu’elle va accepter les avances de Do Hong pour voir s’il est jaloux. Elle lui demande même un 2eme baiser pour vérifier quelque chose avant d’accepter d’aller en rendez-vous avec Do Hong.

Episode 5

Cha Min offers to help her, she accepts and they kiss (I think it’s the longest first kiss I’ve ever seen in a drama…and I’ve seen a lot!). Once again, Jae Rim and Cha Min bicker and don’t want to admit their feelings to each other, while each of them is completely turned around by the kiss (Cha Min even listens to religious chants to calm himself down, I’m dead). We understand that Cha Min’s mother also dreamed of being a Cinderella and ran off with his father’s fortune, so Cha Min wants to avoid finding himself in the same situation. Since Cha Min knows he’s in love with Jae Rim, he’d rather help her find the man of her life than be devastated the day she leaves him. Do Hong steps in again and asks Jae Rim to get to know each other, then asks Cha Min not to kiss her again and threatens him (the man doesn’t lack nerve). Jae Rim decides to test Cha Min and makes him believe she’ll accept Do Hong’s advances to see if he’s jealous. She even asks him for a 2nd kiss to check something before agreeing to go on a date with Do Hong.

Episode 6

Jae Rim propose à Cha Min de l’embrasser pour voir s’il accepte (ce qui voudrait dire qu’il a des sentiments pour elle), il commence par accepter et la repousse mais elle comprend presque qu’il en avait envie. Après cet incident, Cha Min insiste pour la relooker afin qu’elle soit sexy pour rejoindre Dong Ho, elle pense donc qu’il n’a aucun sentiment pour elle. Dans so studio, Dong Ho sort le grand jeu à Jae Rim (on dirait qu’il planche sur un film sur Cendrillon), lui demande de travailler avec lui en créant le storyboard de son prochain film, lui déclare sa flamme et tente de l’embrasser (et elle le refuse). En parallèle, Cha Min apprend que Dong Ho est un grand séducteur et a deja séduit toutes les femmes de ses précédents clubs. Dong Ho et Jae Rim trouvent le frère de Dong Ho caché dans le studio et il met en garde Jae Rim : il lui a menti, il fait ce que les gens attendent de lui mais pas ce qu’il aime (qui est : écrire des romans d’amour entre des hommes). Dong Ho chasse Jae Rim et lui demande de garder son secret (dont il a honte) et Jae Rim l’invite a plutôt en être fier. La fiancée de Cha Min raconte à Jae Rim que Cha Min l’a embrassée pour un pari et par pitié pour elle, elle demande donc à Cha Min de la laisser tranquille (et lui ne comprend pas trop pourquoi). Pour faire plaisir a la fiancée, ses oncles kidnappent Jae Rim mais elle réussit à contacter Cha Min qui vient la sauver (on découvre qu’il est traumatisé d’avoir été kidnappé quand il était petit).

Episode 6

Jae Rim offers to kiss Cha Min to see if he’ll accept (which would mean he has feelings for her), he initially accepts and pushes her away but she almost understands that he wanted to. After this incident, Cha Min insists on giving her a sexy makeover to join Dong Ho, so she thinks he has no feelings for her. In his studio, Dong Ho pulls out all the stops for Jae Rim (he looks like he’s working on a Cinderella movie), asks her to work with him in creating the storyboard for his next film, declares his love for her and tries to kiss her (which she refuses). Meanwhile, Cha Min learns that Dong Ho is a womanizer and has already seduced all the women in his previous clubs. Dong Ho and Jae Rim find Dong Ho’s brother hiding in the studio and he warns Jae Rim: he’s lied to her, he’s doing what people expect of him but not what he loves (which is: writing boy love novels). Dong Ho chases Jae Rim away and asks her to keep his secret (of which he is ashamed) and Jae Rim invites him to be proud of it instead. Cha Min’s fiancée tells Jae Rim that Cha Min kissed her for a bet and out of pity for her, Jae Rim asks Cha Min to leave her alone (and he doesn’t quite understand why). To please the fiancée, her uncles kidnap Jae Rim, but she manages to contact Cha Min, who comes to rescue her (we discover that he is traumatized by having been kidnapped as a child).

Episode 7

Cha Min sauve Jae Rim (pour se venger elle rase les sourcils de ses kidnappeurs, je suis morte de rire !) et lui raconte qu’il a été kidnappé par sa nounou quand il était petit et que toutes les femmes dans sa vie l’ont toujours trahi. Jae Rim comprend de travers que Cha Min l’apprécie mais ne veut pas d’elle car elle n’est pas de sa classe sociale. De retour chez elle, Jae Rim se dispute avec sa famille et quitte son domicile et retourne dans la maison ou elle est née : un bidonville au milieu de nulle part (pendant que Cha Min demande à sa fiancée de laisser Jae Rim tranquille et qu’elle fait une énième crise de nerf). Cha Min tente d’apprendre des mouvements de défense à Jae Rim (il est ceinture noire d’art martial) mais Dong Ho débarque pour s’excuser auprès de Jae Rim et revient à la charge avec son film et ses sentiments. Jaloux, Cha Min vient roder autour de Jae Rim, lui explique que l’amour n’a rien à voir avec les origines sociales et elle l’invite à passer la nuit dans son bidonville pour qu’il vérifie ses propos. Cha Min et Jae Rim se rapprochent et Cha Min aide Jae Rim à comprendre que sa famille l’aime et que Cha Min ne lui avoue pas ses sentiments à cause de sa situation (sa fiancée) et pas à cause des origines sociales de Jae Rim. Jae Rim et Cha Min finissent par se réfugier chez lui (bidonville, tempête de neige blablabla) pour la nuit et Cha Min a du mal à se retenir. Au moment ou Jae Rim part pour rejoindre sa famille, Cha Min lui demande de rester avec lui.

Episode 7

Cha Min rescues Jae Rim (in revenge, she shaves her kidnappers’ eyebrows – I’m laughing my head off!) and he tells her that he was kidnapped by his nanny when he was a child and that all the women in his life have always betrayed him. Jae Rim misunderstands that Cha Min likes her, but doesn’t want her because she’s not from his social class. Back home, Jae Rim quarrels with her family, leaves her home and returns to the house where she was born: a shantytown in the middle of nowhere (while Cha Min asks his fiancée to leave Jae Rim alone and she has yet another nervous breakdown). Cha Min tries to teach Jae Rim some defensive moves (he’s got a black belt in martial arts), but Dong Ho turns up to apologize to Jae Rim and comes back with his film and his feelings. Jealous, Cha Min comes hovering around Jae Rim, explains that love has nothing to do with social origins and she invites him to spend the night in her slum to verify his saying. Cha Min and Jae Rim grow closer, and he helps her understand that her family loves her and that he doesn’t confess his feelings to her because of his situation (his fiancée) and not because of Jae Rim’s social origins. Jae Rim and Cha Min end up taking refuge in his home (slum, snowstorm blah blah blah) for the night, and Cha Min finds it hard to hold back. As Jae Rim leaves to join her family, Cha Min asks her to stay with him.

Episode 8

En comprenant que Jae Rim part rejoindre sa famille, Cha Min accepte de la laisser partir en sous entendant qu’elle reviendra dormir chez lui. On comprend que le père de Cha Min a prévu de le chasser et de tout lui enlever s’il tombe un jour amoureux. Dong Ho débarque à Chungdam Heaven avec une mystérieuse cliente (certainement la mère de Cha Min) et déclare publiquement ses sentiments à Jae Rim. Jae Rim indique à Cha Min qu’elle n’aime pas Dong Ho et Cha Min (encore remonté par son père qui lui répète depuis sa naissance que les femmes sont des traitresses) lui reproche d’avoir manipulé Dong Ho et de ne pas être sincère. Cha Min finit par attaquer Dong Ho et Jae Rim et la cliente mystère les séparent. Jae Rim finit la soirée a boire avec cette fameuse cliente mystère et découvre que c’est la mère de Cha Min, elle apprend que le père de Cha Min l’a chassée en croyant qu’elle le trompait et qu’elle a tout fait pour réussir par elle même et revenir sans sa vie en tant que femme d’affaires à succès. Jae Rim organise une rencontre surprise entre Cha Min et sa mère et Cha Min ne peut pas lui pardonner et fuit. Il retrouve Jae Rim qui lui explique que l’amour existe en le prenant dans ses bras (on adore).

Episode 8

Understanding that Jae Rim is leaving to join her family, Cha Min agrees to let her go on the understanding that she will return to sleep at his place. We understand that Cha Min’s father plans to hunt him down and take everything away from him if he ever falls in love. Dong Ho arrives at Chungdam Heaven with a mysterious client (certainly Cha Min’s mother) and publicly declares his feelings for Jae Rim. Jae Rim tells Cha Min that she doesn’t love Dong Ho, and Cha Min (still reeling from his father, who has been telling him since birth that women are traitors) blames her for manipulating Dong Ho and for being insincere. Cha Min ends up attacking Dong Ho until Jae Rim and the mystery guest separates them. Jae Rim ends the evening drinking with this famous mystery customer and discovers that she is Cha Min’s mother. She learns that Cha Min’s father chased her away believing she was cheating on him, and that she did everything she could to succeed on her own and return to her life as a successful businesswoman. Jae Rim arranges a surprise meeting between Cha Min and his mother, but Cha Min can’t forgive her and runs away. He finds Jae Rim, who explains to him that love exists by giving him a hug (we love it).

Episode 9

Après le câlin avec Jae Rim, Cha Min retourne voir sa mère et écoute son histoire. Les deux se rapprochent encore et ont du mal à se séparer pour la nuit. La fiancée de Cha Min apprend qu’ils ont des sentiments l’un pour l’autre et le menace d’enterrer Jae Rim vivante et toute sa famille avec, il accepte donc de l’épouser pour protéger Jae Rim. Jae Rim apprend la nouvelle par la fiancée qui lui demande d’organiser le mariage et Dong Ho la sort de là et lui propose de s’enfuir avec lui. La fiancée annule le mariage, sa famille de gangsters démolit Chungdam Heaven et le tabasse, son père le rejette complètement et Cha Min rejette Jae Rim (pour la protéger) en lui disant qu’il joue avec elle depuis le début.

Episode 9

After cuddling with Jae Rim, Cha Min returns to his mother and listens to her story. Cha Min and Jae Rim grow even closer and find it difficult to separate for the night. Cha Min’s fiancée learns of their feelings for each other and threatens to bury Jae Rim alive and her whole family with her, so he agrees to marry her to protect Jae Rim. Jae Rim hears the news from the fiancée, who asks her to arrange the wedding, and Dong Ho pulls her out and offers to elope with him. The fiancée ends up cancelling the wedding, her gangster family demolishes Chungdam Heaven and beats Cha Min up, his father rejects him completely and Cha Min rejects Jae Rim (to protect her), telling her that he’s been playing with her all along.

Episode 10

Jae Rim comprend qu’au lieu de cendrillon elle doit être son propre prince charmant. Elle apprend que Cha Min a été viré de Chungdam Heaven par son père et que son mariage est tombé à l’eau, elle rejette Do Hong et décide de devenir assistante de dessinateur pour reprendre sa vie en main sans Cha Min (même si elle a des hallucinations de lui en permanence). Elle finit par retrouver Cha Min par hasard et ose lui avouer son amour, surpris qu’elle veuille de lui malgré le fait qu’il n’ai plus rien, il lui avoue aussi son amour et ils se mettent (enfin!) ensemble. Cha Min décide d’aider son père et sa mère à se réconcilier (franchement, il n’a pas eu à faire grand chose) et Jae Rim décroche un poste de dessinatrice d’un dessin animé. Ils finissent heureux ensemble, chacun rencontrant le succès de son côté.

Episode 10

Jae Rim realizes that instead of Cinderella, she must be her own Prince Charming. Learning that Cha Min has been kicked out of Chungdam Heaven by his father and that his marriage has fallen through, she rejects Do Hong and decides to become a designer’s assistant to get on with her life without Cha Min (even though she hallucinates about him all the time). Surprised that she wants him despite the fact that he has nothing left, he confesses his love for her and they (finally!) get together. Cha Min decides to help his father and mother reconcile (frankly, he didn’t have to do much) and Jae Rim lands a job as a cartoonist. They end up happily together, each finding success in their own right.

Mon avis

J’ai adoré ce drama, court et efficace.

Il est plein d’humour et les acteurs tiennent bien la route et sont très drôles. Il n’y a pas un épisode ou je n’ai pas ri et de temps en temps ça fait vraiment du bien. Mention spéciale pour l’actrice principale qui incarne une femme forte et courageuse comme j’adore les voir dans les dramas.

Côté romance, j’ai aussi été servie, l’histoire commence avec pas mal de chamailleries mais les personnages se rendent vite compte qu’ils s’aiment et se mettent en 4 l’un pour l’autre. Et on a bien sur droit à de superbes baisers (certains imaginaires mais quand même) qui pimentent le tout.

L’histoire n’a rien de fou mais elle est très bien organisée et une voix off commente ce qu’il se passe ce qui rajoute de l’humour sur l’humour, franchement c’était la cerise sur le gâteau.

Les décors, costumes etc. ne sont pas mal, pas incroyables mais pas mal (mais en même temps je ne m’attendais à rien de fou sur un mini drama moderne).

La morale de l’histoire est assez basique : il faut avant tout s’aimer, avoir confiance en soi, ne pas se dévaloriser et être son propre sauveur. Simple et efficace.

My opinion

I loved this short, effective drama.

It’s full of humor, and the actors hold up well and are very funny. There wasn’t an episode where I didn’t laugh, and every now and then it feels really good. Special mention goes to the lead actress, who plays the kind of strong, courageous woman I love to see in dramas.

On the romance front, we are treated to a lot of bickering at the beginning, but the characters soon realize that they love each other and go through everything for each other. And, of course, there are some great kisses (some imaginary, but still) to spice things up.

The story isn’t anything crazy, but it’s very well organized, and a voice-over comments on what’s going on, adding humor on top of humor – icing on the cake.

The sets, costumes etc. are not bad, not incredible but not bad (but I wasn’t expecting anything crazy from a modern mini-drama).

The moral of the story is pretty basic: above all, love yourself, trust yourself, don’t devalue yourself and be your own savior. Simple and effective.

Je recommande ce drama, d’abord parce qu’il est super drôle et plein de tendresse, et aussi parce qu’il est très court et divertissant : impeccable entre 2 plus gros dramas ou en attendant la fin de diffusion d’un drama (my sweet mobster pour ma part).

I recommend this drama, firstly because it’s super funny and full of tenderness, and also because it’s very short and entertaining: perfect between 2 bigger dramas or while waiting for a drama to finish airing (my sweet mobster for my part).
